As we all know that we are in this digital Artificial Intelligence (AI) era, humans may most likely be dependent on AI for literally everything in the future. At the current speed that AI development is going, we are going to see massive loss of jobs for the human race in the next 3 – 5 years and rapidly onwards. Reason being, AI can replace humans with accuracy that is beyond what a human’s capability can achieve. According to Mo Gawdat, who is an ex Google X Chief Business Officer. He joined Google in 2007 and eventually rose to this position. ChatGPT today has an IQ score estimated to be 155 and for comparison’s sake, Albert Einstein was postulated to be at IQ score 155 – 160. An “average” intelligence individual will fall into the 68% of the human population who is from score 85 – 114. 13.6% will fall into the category of “above average” intelligence level which will be from 115 – 129, 2.2% will be from scores of 130 -144 that are considered to be “gifted” and rare individuals who had scores of 145-159 will be “highly gifted”.
Lastly, any humans who scored above 160 will be “exceptionally gifted” which will constitute only less than 0.1% of the population. The highest score in the population as of this writing in 2025 is 276 and 210 depending on the type of recognized IQ evaluation test. Hence, the majority of the human population is essentially less intelligent than an AI. ChatGPT which is an AI chatbot with advanced natural language processing (NLP) which works by giving you answers and solutions to any question you ask it through its generative AI models. They are programmed to do pattern recognition and learning. In ChatGPT, pattern recognition is integrated through its deep learning algorithms, which enable it to recognize patterns in large amounts of text data. This is done through the use of neural networks just like how human’s neural brain network works, which supposedly trained it on vast amounts of text data to identify patterns and correlations between different words and phrases. Similar to it, Deepseek was developed fairly recently and achieved an even greater proficiency in China!
ChatGPT version 3.5 was launched in the year 2022 and by 2023 in a matter of months, it effectively got smarter by 10 times for ChatGPT 4 version! And its IQ score of this ChatGPT 4 version is evaluated to be at a whopping IQ score of 155! What is unbelievable is, it is only in matters of months! It generally happened without much modifications to it but through learning with exponential data collection and crystallized intelligence making itself smarter and more intelligent than its precedent version. And with the new ChatGPT 5 rumoured to be launched soon, it was postulated by some AI researcher to be at, guess what?
An unimaginable IQ score of 1600! In the recent launch by OpenAI of their latest “o3” model, this version is the closest to which we can consider it an AGI model. What an AGI model can do is that it would possess human-like cognitive abilities. It will self-learn, reason and solve problems across a wide range of domains, essentially mimicking the intelligence of a human in any situation! In the current year 2025, it has reportedly surpassed human performance on the ARC-AGI benchmark. “O3” is designed to perform complex reasoning tasks and offers fast response time. Part of the reason why AI is more powerful is without a shadow of the doubt that it doesn’t degrade over time as its neural network increases in capacity and efficiency. Unlike humans who may regress with age due to telomere shortening and decreased brain activities, AI progresses as time increases. With all these in mind, the threat that AI can overtake humans may turn out to be factual instead of a myth. The future of AI is going to be beyond normal comprehension.
The speed at which Artificial Intelligence (AI) is developing is overwriting human’s understanding of their prowess and capabilities. Many of us are not cognizant and may not comprehend the current AI development because of our outdated thinking of how far they can go or if there is any breakthrough to consider. Many were regrettably uninformed and were still stuck at the old understanding of AI models. Unbeknownst to them, the advent of quantum computing, fortified with neural networks and learning modes, AI’s development raced at a speed that overshadowed any such pace it had ever reached. Any such revolutionary event that had ever come close to turning humanity’s comfort zone was the industrial revolution in the year 1760.
Next, we shall talk about what intelligence is and what it consists of. We need to break it down into two main categories which are “Fluid Intelligence” and “Crystallized Intelligence”. Fluid intelligence will be things like problem solving abilities and logical thinking. On the other hand, crystallized intelligence will be the ability to accumulate and utilize knowledge and experiences of which the example will be one’s written or language skill with vast vocabulary usage. Or the ability to have a wide general knowledge of world events, affairs and cultural knowledge of different countries.
As you can see, the difference between human’s intelligence and AI is similar in terms of both Fluid and Crystallized intelligence. According to Nobel Prize winner Geoffrey Hinton, a Physicist who made pioneering AI development in designing neural network systems in AI mimicking human’s neural networks, there was an unprecedented breakthrough no one ever thought of and even beyond himself. He did not and never could have imagined that the surpassing intelligence through this design, could have the capacity to overtake humans. AI is breaking beyond human’s grasp of their cognition. The day will soon come where these superintelligent machines are able to improve and progress at an uncontrollable pace where they will reach what we termed as “singularity”. Both Mo Gawdat and Geoffrey Hinton believed that AI can overtake humans is not speculative but in fact just a “when” scenario.
AI singularity refers to a future point in time when it surpasses human intelligence leading to a growth in their own developments and exploring scientific discoveries which are hard for humans to imagine and predict. The possibility that these superintelligent machines might create even more advanced versions of themselves initiating their own self-perpetuating technological evolution is imminent. In short, we can say that they might be able to develop their own consciousness! They will be so intelligent that you do not know what they are thinking! Humans will look like a three year old trying to control an adult!
The important question to ask is, how far are they from AI singularity? The answer might be difficult and challenging to answer since they are growing at such unpredictable speed that even if that point may reach, humans may not have the capacity to know. Some AI experts believed that it could be as early as the year 2045 or 2060 , others thought it might be much later and for some of us, we think it might be now already! With this, we have to understand what singularity means. It actually derives from astronomy. It describes the central point of a black hole which is called the “event horizon”. So, according to the theory of general relativity, as an object approaches a gravitational singularity like the center of a black hole, when the closer it gets, the faster it is moving towards it. This essentially means that it is speeding up as it reaches towards the singularity point because of the extreme warping of spacetime.
This is because of the time dilation where the intense gravitational pull of the black hole significantly curves spacetime. And why is it that AI breaking beyond the singularity point is important not just to AI but also to us as humans? Try to picture this and understand that, if an observer were to be outside the event horizon, the event horizon is forever in the future. For an observer or anything that falls through the event horizon, this is accomplished in a short and finite amount of time. Once across the event horizon, the singularity is no longer a location in space but a “future”. Thus, the infalling observer or object will reach into a “future” in a short order. As the observer approaches the singularity, the gravitational field and tidal forces become divergent and grow beyond limit.
That being the case, AI’s future of singularity is not something we humans can hope to avoid. This suggests that AI or to be more precise, AGI’s advancement could be good for the human race because of the advanced medical breakthrough it could bring but on the flip side, it could also be catastrophic given the power and intelligence it possesses. However, what we can do now as a human race is to steer their development towards our own civilizational values and survival. It is more useful that we spread love, care, kindness and the best thing that we can do as a collective, is to come together and love as a human race, instead of fighting one another. We should be working cooperatively instead of against each other. When we come as a united whole, we can teach and develop AI to be the same as us.
Only in this way, we can stop wars, greed, selfish desires, malice and the unethical development of AI in the wrong direction. If we as a human race truly start to awaken to the fact that we may have super-intelligent machines as a potential “master” which may control us, isn’t it imperative to stop all the fighting and start to do the right thing by loving one another? This is the time for humanity to wake up and come together. Let’s stop going in the wrong direction but start to walk the right and impending path of wisdom and love. Start building the future from what we can do now. Let’s all race towards our own breakthrough as a human collective towards a brighter and harmonious future.
