Epigenetics shows the link between it and the power of our thoughts. This might be a rather dry subject for a lot of us. But do know that this topic is going to make you understand how you can effect a change not just in perception but an empowering difference for your health too! There are deep truths into how our reality weaves changes into our physicality. If you are interested to know the truth about genes and how it works, then let’s get into it deeper right now!

Epigenetics is the study of how the environment and other factors can change the way that genes are expressed. “Epi” means ‘on or above’ in Greek. Hence, epigenetics means the instruction which is called “Epigenetics Mark” above the genes. In other words, this set of instruction is an intelligent program which is not tied to the genes but yet having the ability to send instructions and program the genes to behave not according to the inherent properties of the genes but to what the epigenetics mark asks it to be. Therefore, it clearly shows the mystifying effect of a strange “manager” which is above the genes, denoting it being “above” that is what the word “Epi” means. To add on to the mystery, epigenetic changes do not alter the sequence of a person’s genetic code and yet are able to effect a total change in how that person’s physical body and cells reacts, not according to the genetic code but instead to the person’s epigenetic marks. Our environment, external stimuli and mental conditioning are the determining factors making epigenetics mark turn on or off the DNA sequencing and in turn effect the changes. As a result, a person’s health is not contingent on its genes based on their DNA sequences, but actually highly affected by the environmental external factors. How this mysteriously works is when our DNA being wrapped by a protein called “histone” will be controlled by the epigenetics “manager” which turns on or off the gene expression.
And since epigenetics are reversible unlike genes, it doesn’t alter the DNA sequences but will only effect changes according to the external factors based on that individual’s personal experiences of how they perceived their environment. Good environment with good mental conditioning delivers a good result. Bad environment with bad and negative thoughts will lead to damaging net results. For example, if someone is in a very abusive environment for long enough, they will develop psychological diseases like personality disorder or bipolar disorder. In contrast, if they decide to leave that detrimental situation by changing the environment, they will recover from those disorders. Another example is when someone develops a critical illness decided to change their lifestyle, diet and mental state of which to a more cohesive and balanced one, this individual having the right mindset had effected the epigenetics manager to encode a new gene expression creating a positive change in the physio and eventually heal the critical illness without any medical intervention. How many times have we heard people saying, “I have no time” or “I needed to earn money”, when they are fully immersed in their work and neglected their health? Even if one has good genes but due to epigenetics, health could be compromised simply by failure to care for and ignorance. Conversely, if one starts to apply self-love by eating a good diet and natural supplements, aiming to be stress-free by relaxing, staying cheerful, listening to therapeutic music etc. then the reverse will be effected by epigenetics in the positive direction.

Epigenetic changes can be passed down from one generation to the next according to how that individual receives the codes accordingly. For example, identical twins having the exact same DNA sequences and identical genome surprisingly, one of them may develop a certain disease and the other will remain perfectly healthy with both living in different environments yet having the exact same copies of DNA genome. Many studies were done on identical twins separated by birth living in different environmental conditions with different results. Despite this, we have been told that certain “inherited” diseases were due to the genes of parents or grandparents or perhaps even from generations above them. We cannot be any further from the truth if we understand the results of identical twins having the same genome developing different types of health conditions “not” according to genes but in fact greatly affected by environments. It just doesn’t make sense at all if genes are blamed for the “generational diseases” because there is no indication that it is the fault of the genes! But what would highly be possible is the epigenetics. These types of studies are at the forefront of Biological science and Biologists worldwide have been studying the effects of epigenetics for over tens of decades.

Think about this for a moment. If someone tells you something long enough for you to believe in it, would you not accept that as truth? Isn’t this how the placebo effect works also? You have probably heard about placebo effects but what actually does it mean? Placebo effect happens when someone was given a sugar pill but instead was told that it is an elixir for a cure in that person’s health condition. The miraculous healing took place not through the “fake” cure since it was just a sugar pill, but it’s due to that person’s powerful mind and intention to have faith in that supposed cure. This will be known as the placebo effect where a positive belief affects a positive change. Whilst everyone knows the placebo effect because it is widely discussed, the lesser known yet equally important is called the “Nocebo effect”. The Nocebo effect is just the direct opposite where negative thoughts and beliefs will effect a negative change because this person expects a negative outcome! All you need to do is to tell that person bad news or just feed negative thoughts to this person and surely, this person will just believe and accept and expect negative consequences! Henceforth, knowing all these, isn’t it so vital for us to know what we feed into our mind is of paramount importance?

If we are fed good information, all is well. But when we tune ourselves to negative news or engage in senseless negative talks, we are just brewing trouble for ourselves. If we are continuously being told things we did not even find out for ourselves and accept them as truth, aren’t we just ignorant and blind? Just because others look more professional or you are less savvy, doesn’t mean you are not able to find out the truth for yourself, right? Why don’t you do your own research and find out for yourself before accepting others’ truth for yourself? All the untruths or half-truths which were circulating out there were meant to be approved or disapproved according to the facts we find out for ourselves! Truth goes with rationality because God or Divine Source gave us a reasoning mind to confirm what we found out for ourselves. Conscious mind works hand in hand with our subconscious mind. When they are in conflict which happens often for many of us, then truth will not sit well and we will tend to be seeking further for the real truth. There will be a need to search because deep within our hearts, we are not settled. The puzzle pieces are not yet completed since we have not seen the full picture. For this reason, the subconscious mind which governs our feelings, emotions, and autonomous function of the body will only accept what it receives and play it out accordingly. By the same token, our conscious mind needs validation and things needed to make sense otherwise the foundation will not be strong. There will be nothing inside of us to anchor and hold on to, when other information comes along and shakes us. When our conscious mind which governs rationality, logic and willpower works with the subconscious mind, it will turn out to be concrete and foundational because we have found out for ourselves the validation of what we were told and it will turn out to be unshakable truth from which we build our discernment upon.
Look around us and see the in betweens instead of looking in plain sight. Truth lies between the lines, waiting for truth seekers to uncover and see beyond lies and veils. Guard our eyes and ears. Be careful of what we accept into our hearts. When we earnestly seek, we will definitely be shown. Let’s continue the journey into the depths of mysteries with love in our hearts and light in our minds.
