There are so many spiritual practices and principles which we need to remember and follow which make it hard for us to recall and seriously put into practice daily. Whilst all the teachings and tenets are important and worth making it a point to practice, there are too many for us to remember even if we are serious in our spiritual journey.
We want to keep in mind all of them, however it seems like an impossible task making us defeated and stressed. In spite of that, there is good news here. If you are serious in your spiritual quest and aspire to be obedient out of love to God or some may call Divine Source. As a spiritual aspirant who wants to do the “right thing”, then there is a spiritual principle to remember and follow. Just need to remember one rule, the “Golden Rule”. It encompasses all the righteous and moral attributes into a very practical implementation which we could apply into our day-to-day life.
The Golden Rule is the principle of treating others as one would want to be treated by them. It is sometimes called an ethics of reciprocity, meaning that you should reciprocate to others how you would like them to treat you. Which goes like this, “Do not do unto others what you do not wish others to do unto you; do unto others what you wish others do unto you.”
For example, if someone made a mistake and you are just about to scold this person, you might want to consider this, “If i am in the same position and made a mistake, would I like others to scold me or give me a chance? I think the answer should be, yes, I should give this person a chance and let the matter pass with compassion and understanding.” And by the same token, in another scenario where I have something to share, can i think like this, “Here i have this cake which is what i had been looking forward to eating for the past week and it looks delicious. As much as i wish to eat it alone, can i share this with this stranger because this person looks hungry. So, if i put myself in this person’s shoes, how i wish someone would offer me something to eat, so why don’t i offer this cake to this person since i have something to offer?”. And with these thoughts, we can stop behaving negatively towards others and also offer something that we can give whenever we can.
There are countless religious dogmas and teachings surrounding and adapting from this principle. If there is anything you may want to remember and practice and bear in mind, the Golden Rule will help you to navigate life doing the right thing and effecting a change beneficial for the human collective. This guidance will not only help us neutralize any negative karma we have with others consciously or unconsciously, in this lifetime or from other lifetimes, but also start turning them into good karma eventually! This principle will help you to live a morally righteous life and you will start to see miracles happening in your life because you are tapping into the Zero Point Field of abundance, unconditional love and wisdom whenever we are truly divinely aligned. It does not matter how much information one memorizes from any religious text or if one can quote word for word eloquently, even if this person can behave like a noble person or if their act is virtuous-looking, we will not be able to hide from “Truth”. We can deceive others or even ourselves but we can never deceive universal laws since balance and harmony shall be brought to us by tests, challenges and lessons in order for us to truly align to the Divine when we do the introspective inner work. If we are serious, we will be able to face the truth and question our every motive behind our every intention and action. We will be able to recognise and catch our ego in action and make corrections from time to time so that we will be a true spiritual warrior. Be authentic and honest. Start applying what we learnt into our daily practice. You will start to live a meaningful life full of compassion, peace, harmony and gratitude. Let’s truly bring heaven unto earth through the practice of the Golden Rule.
